Reach starting points of numerous hiking trails by car on the Goldeck Panoramic Road or by using the Goldeck Mountain Railways. The Goldeck sports mountain is covered in a web of hiking trails, high-altitude hiking routes and summit tours. Families with children, nature lovers and athletic mountaineers will all find suitable hiking tours here. The Mähderhütte by the Goldeck Road invites visitors to enjoy a hearty snack and genuine Carinthian mountain pasture delicacies. Numerous rest sports along the perfectly marked paths open up divine views of a sea of alpine summits. Goldeck Panoramic Road – Seetal car park: hiking by car

The pay desk of the Goldeck Panoramic Road is located at the mountain village of Zlan above Spittal an der Drau. Buy your ticket here and enjoy the 14.5 km road with ten turns up to the final Goldeck car park Seetal at an altitude of 1,883 m. Park your vehicle here and choose one of the hiking trails starting at the car park.

•    Hike to the Goldeck summit
Unhurried hikes for all ages, approx. walking time 40 min.

•    Hike to the Goldeckhütte
First follow the summit path and then take a right at the signposted crossing near the ridge, approx. walking time 50 min.

•    Round hike Kapeller Alm-Gusenalm-Thörl-Goldeckgipfel-Parkplatz
Divine hiking tour (path number 210) across green mountain meadows, gorgeous panoramic views, approx. walking time 2.5 h.

•    Summit tour onto the Hochstaff
Path number 287 leads to the Gusenalm. Now follow path number 201 towards Weissensee. The turnoff for path 287 leading left to the Hochstaff summit is located below the footbridge, approx. walking time 5 h.


Goldeck Mountain Railways Spittal an der Drau: railway hiking

The Goldeck railway gets to the intermediate station at 1,640 m and the mountain station at 2,050 m above sea level within minutes. Numerous beautiful hiking tours beyond compare start at these two railway station. We have the best tips for an unforgettable mountain and hiking experience for you!


Conduct in the alpine pasture areas

The Goldeck Panorama Road is located in an alpine pasture area; sometimes the road goes directly across pastureland. Drivers and cyclists must proceed with particular caution and with a correspondingly reduced speed. Free-range grazing livestock (e.g. sheep) or even wild animals (e.g. especially in blind curves) must be expected at any time!
•    Kärntner Pilzwelt hiking path
Take the Goldeck railways to the intermediate station. The Carinthian mushroom path starts here. Learn interesting facts about Carinthian mushrooms, the right way to forage and typical regional mushroom dishes at several information points on this easy hiking route. Your hike leads to the Goldeck reservoir lake, rewarding you with a breathtaking view. From here, you can continue hiking to the Goldeck summit or walk back toward the intermediate station and stop at the Kremdlmaralm.

•    Sunrise ascents with breakfast
Getting up early is worthwhile as experiencing a sunrise on the Goldeck is an indescribable experience. Experience daybreak at an altitude of 2,050 m before enjoying an extensive, delicious breakfast buffet at the mountain restaurant. Now you’re ready to go hiking to your heart’s desire!

•    Geocaching: treasure hunt on the Goldeck with GPS
Older children in particular will have lots of fun with this kind of hiking with their parents. Even teens who usually don’t care too much about great views and mountain nature are game when it comes to discovering treasures. Coordinates for the caches on the Goldeck online !

Geocaching tasters take place from early June to mid-October subject to prior registration (previous day by 4 pm, registration see above).

•    Culinary hut hike
Take the Goldeck railway to the mountain station at 10 am from early June to mid-October, the starting point of your culinary hike (walking time around 4 h). A mountain hiking guide first takes you to the summit of the Goldeck, where you will learn interesting facts about the region’s history and gold mining. Depending on the participants’ wishes, two different routes can be chosen, both leading back to the mountain station of the Goldeckbahn. Preparing a Carinthian “Frigga” is on the adventure programme afterwards at 3 pm. The traditional lumberjack dish will, of course, be eaten together with pleasure.
